Disney released new details about Disney Genie, the replacement for the Fast Pass and Max Pass programs, retired earlier this year.
Disney Genie is an in-park attraction reservation and planning system. Disney Genie will create a personalized itinerary for users of the pre-existing My Disney Experience App based on interests and current and forecasted wait times.
Disney Genie will act as a personal assistant, giving restaurant reservation reminders or join a mobile dining walk-up waitlist for restaurants that have available spots. Quick service dining options will also be recommended near planned attractions.
Guests can optionally purchase for an extra $15 per person, per day, to what’s known as Genie+ which gives the flexibility of unlimited Lightning Lane passes for the party’s day visit. Lightning Lanes are available at over 40 attractions across the four parks, including many of the Tier 1 rides. It will be priced at $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort.
Lightning Lane reservations can be made starting at 7 am on the day of the visit for guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort; for all other guests, reservations can be made when the parks open. Visitors will be able to purchase two reservations at up to two attractions per day. However, guests will only be able to use the Lightning Lane once per attraction per day.
While Lightning Lane offers a reduced wait time for most attractions, not all attractions are included. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain at Walt Disney World will be available exclusively as a la carte options. These will be available as separate Lightning Lane attractions and will be priced from $7 to $15 per person per ride, depending on the day of the week. That said, a standby queue is still a free option available to all guests.
