Yesterday, Gamescom gave us an update regarding the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game. The game was initially scheduled to release in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and development issues.
The game features over three hundred playable characters and primarily centers around all nine chapters of the Skywalker Saga. There will also be DLC content fromThe Mandalorian, Rogue One, Solo, Classic LEGO Star Wars Characters, and The Bad Batch. Furthermore, the trailer showed us a brief glimpse at Kanan’s speeder: hinting at the possibility of Star Wars: Rebels content.
The trailer featured the first look at the “Galaxy Map.” The map features twenty-four unique destinations of which, five remain a mystery. However, based on their locations, we speculate that they’re Mustafar, Coruscant, Jakku, Takodana, and Ilum (Starkiller Base).
We also learned more about the game’s boss battles. The boss battles recreate the iconic duels from the Skywalker Saga, which include Qui-Gon and Obi-wan vs. Darth Maul (The Phantom Menace), Obi-Wan and Anakin vs. Count Dooku (Revenge of the Sith), Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (Revenge of the Sith), Luke vs. Darth Vader (The Empire Strikes Back), Obi-Wan vs. Jango Fett (Attack of the Clones), Mace Windu vs. Jango Fett (Attack of the Clones), Rey and Kylo vs. the Praetorian Guards (The Last Jedi), and Yoda vs. Emperor Palpatine (Revenge of the Sith).
Finally, the trailer revealed an updated release window for the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars title. Before this announcement, the game had been delayed indefinitely after it didn’t meet its spring 2021 estimate. The game is expected to release in spring 2022 and will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
