Marvel Announces the Return of the God of Mischief, ‘Loki’ Season 2 Confirmed

Loki, the time-traveling crime thriller, was the first Marvel Studios original series to be formally renewed for a second season on Disney+ following its viral success.

The news was revealed in the post-credits sequence of the finale, which included a TVA document bearing the words “Loki will return in Season 2.”

From beginning to end, Loki has been a bizarre ride. After six weeks of time-traveling antics, fans were left on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger when the MCU’s multiverse was finally unlocked, paving the way for a slew of Phase 4 projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is slated to resume his role in next year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, following the climactic end of Loki‘s debut season. However, Hiddleston’s role in the film has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios.

For the Sam Raimi-directed 2022 blockbuster, Hiddleston will join Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, together, making for an undeniable mind-bending experience that is sure to have a huge impact on the MCU.

Although Loki Season 2 may not return until 2023, rumors have swirled that its second season may have secretly been filmed already, leaving a slim possibility that the God of Mischief may return sooner than we think. Whatever happens, fans can look forward to when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on March 25, 2022.
