Leslye Headland, the creative mind behind the darker-toned Star Wars series, The Acolyte, has already given tidbits about what the series’ potential is for tales of the dark side. Although the story has been kept under wraps, we do know that the series will take place during the High Republic era, a time where Jedi flourish and the dark side has somewhat diminished. However, there’s more…
According to Giant Freakin Robot, the main character “will be played by a young woman of color” and is expected to be involved in a lot of “fight scenes.” At the moment, it seems Lucasfilm is looking for an Asian actress, in her “teens or early twenties” and is comfortable with a lot of “athletic” performances including “martial arts.”
Additionally, the site’s sources say that the lead character will be working and training for the Sith through the lens of “what the dark side of the Force really means and why someone would choose it.” In turn, the young actress will indeed be a Sith Acolyte.
When first announced in December, Lucasfilm described the series as “…a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
However, what that all entails is anyone’s guess. For now, let’s chalk this one up as a rumor until we get more confirmation!
The Acolyte will take place around 200 years before George Lucas’ Original Trilogy and is rumored to release in the latter half of 2022.
