Disney’s live-action feature film is currently under production. The Little Mermaid is currently filming in Sardinia. Even though the production site is heavily guarded, some talented sleuths were able to capture the first images of Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King in their respective roles.

Halle Bailey and her special effects outfit for her role as Ariel can be seen in the set photos, which appears to be a moment in which she saves Hauer-King’s Eric, which is a scene from the 1989 animated classic film.
The film has about a month and a half left in production before it enters a lengthy post-production phase. The team will film in Sardinia for the next few days before traveling throughout Italy.
The Little Mermaid, directed by Rob Marshall, stars Halle Bailey as Ariel. Alan Menken’s original music will be featured in the film, as well as new songs co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Prince Eric is played by Jonah Hauer-King, Ursula is played by Melissa McCarthy, and King Triton is played by Javier Bardem. Other stars include Emily Coates, Jessica Alexander, Jude Akuwudike, Noma Dumezweni, Russell Balogh, and Adrian Christopher.
The Little Mermaid is scheduled to release in 2022.
